Sewnsewer2, you indicated you found the answer to your question however I wanted to add this and see if it was helpful to you. In Billie Lauder's first Quick Quilt Tips book, she showed when you made your four patch...you then twist the middle of the four patch (where all four fabrics intersect) to actually create a tiny four patch in the center which makes the middle of the four patch lay flat and without bulk after pressing them. I have used this method for years and it works great. I hope I am explaining this correctly and you understand. You just twist that intersection of the four patches around a bit and flatten it out and press. Hope this helps you and is actually answering your original question.
