This home came with an unfinished basement and I was determined to carve out a corner for myself. I saved cabinets that we had removed when we opened a wall in the kitchen and made an ironing board to place on top. I found a table with possibilities on Craigslist. I saved doors that we replaced with new ones. This last week my DH and I have worked our buns off cramming everything into the space that is finally just for me! He cut a hole in the table for my new Janome 7700 so that I won't have to lug it out every time I want to sew. My old desk had a door placed on top of it to become the cutting table so I won't have to crawl around on the floor to use the big cutting mat. I spent weeks organizing fabric onto foam boards that I cut from sheets I purchased at the dollar store. This week I am going to find myself a flannel backed vinyl table cloth and attach it to the wall for a display wall. I have attached photos below. I spent all morning down there listing to music and happily organizing things so I can find them (hopefully). As you age organization becomes more important because the mind starts playing hide and seek on a regular basis.

Wow, I like your sewing room. How I would love to have something like this that would be just an area for me. Currently I have mine in a spare bedroom and always have things laying out on the bed. When grandchildren come over to spend the night (which we so enjoy), grandma has to move everything!
