We go to New Orleans at Christmas and take DH's aunts and uncles out to dinner. The oldest Uncle just turned 90 in Feb. Last year he wore his WWII Navy Vet hat to dinner. Unbelievable the nbr of ppl who came by to thank him for his service. One table of Vietnam Vets purchased desserts for our table and saluted him when they left. Just makes you feel so warm. Thank you is such a little thing but can mean so much.
