Yes I sprayed onto the batting. The backing is 100% cotton toile. Maybe it's just that fabric that doesn't want to slide around. The only other FMQ I have done was with batiks and my FMQ was lousy, but at least the fabric slid around quite well.
Maybe you sprayed a little too heavy. I've only sprayed one time and did very well. I actually felt a little drag but not bad and I was thinking that maybe I sprayed too heavy. Later, I saw a teaching video and the lady was sandwiching her top and it looked like she was spraying very lightly.
