I bought ground round yesterday for 2.49 a pound at our local butcher. When it is at that price I buy 10 pounds and vacum pack it. DH and I shop once a month at place in Lancaster. It is a menonite grocery store. If you buy the entire roll of cheese they mark it down to 2.49 a pound. I just cut it into large chunks and freeze it. I think food is going to go up even higher.
I buy the manager special all the time. Actually, it is just aged beef. I wouldn't buy it if it was brown though. Just a few weeks ago the local grocery had chuck roasts for 2.49..and they were huge. I bought 5 and got 10 roasts out of them. Hubby calls me queen of the bargain shoppers.
