Ground beef is high everywhere I think. DH and I don't like "tube meat" (I read too much!) so we always go with fresh ground. We have a wonderful small town grocery store here, with really nice guys in the meat department. They will notify me by phone if there is a sale coming up, and we stock-up on 50 or 100 pounds of ground beef and freezer bags.
Lately however Tom (meat manager) informed me that ground beef is going up and will be probably staying up,...so I might consider buying roasts and having them ground up. So that's what we did last time we needed meat. Chuck roasts were $2.89#, and we had 100 pounds ground up (they don't mind doing it on a large order. So at least we have beef in the freezer for a little while...
Wish I could just get DH to eat less meat!!
