I hear everyone say this quite a bit. Most digital cameras have closeup settings. On most newer ones, it's a little flower button.
Put it on this setting and hold it about 20 inches away under good light. You'll get a nice crisp detailed closeup.
That said, it will also show all of the flaws. So, user beware.
