So you have some pretty fabrics and you want to cut stripes and sew the stripes together for the top center - is that right?
Do you want the stripes to go lengthwise on the bed, or crosswise?
How big do you want to make the quilt itself?
How much fabric do you have of each?
How many fabrics do you have?
Depending on the above answers is the determining factor if you will need to piece the stripes or if you could cut length of fabric for a single long piece.
