This dress came together fairly easily so it was a good confidence builder for me to continue on with garments. Good for you. But I'd have bet that every one of us started using a sewing machine by sewing clothes. Mom sewed our clothes when I was a kid and each of us girls started sewing as soon as we could use scissors, and pins and the treadle sewing machine---making our own clothes. Just assumed that was the natural progression for everyone.
