Well don't know about brilliant ideas for you but it does take time to remember to change those needle plates for particular sewing. A checklist sounds like a good idea but unfortunately I've also learned the hard way but it gets easier all the time when needing to change the needle plate. Generally what I do is of course start with the single hole plate for my piecing and also take out my other plate with the pressure foot I am intending on using. It helps a lot but doesn't mean I always remember.

Will be interesting to hear others thoughts on this subject.
