Sew your binding on the front, Turn to the back and pin. Then stitch-in-the-ditch from the front. You must make sure that the binding is wide enough to go past your stitch in the ditch seam. I do this type if it is a childs quilt, or one that will be getting a lot of use. I sew on the front ,turn and hand stitch the binding if it is a show type quilt. I like the look of the hand stitched binding best. If I'm in a hurry to finish the quilt, I sew by machine.
