You're doing great! I might suggest using either lots of starch, spray sizing or the new product Best Press. It will help to stabilize your fabrics while sewing.

Those were my first thoughts as well. Those pieces would sure get a good starching at my house before I cut anything out. This is going to be a beautiful quilt.
