What I read was that it is associated with high blood pressure, which is also common in diabetics, so the diabetes in not necessarily a direct cause. I don't have any experience with this, but want to wish you well. Eye doctors do some amazing and wonderful work these days with lasers. Follow doctor's orders to the letter, and ask the doc, or at least the nurse, if you have any questions - you have a right to know what is going on and what to expect. Your sight is precious.
