My college aged guys like geometric patterns and nothing flowery. Some good choices would be Warm Wishes, Turning Twenty, Take Five, Bento Box, BQ or some of the free patterns offered by the fabric manufacturers. There are dozens to choose from out there and many of them would make a easy to cut and stitch quilt. I usually use Polydown batting as it washes and wears well and often use a flannel sheet for the backing. College quilts tend to get a bit of hard wear and sometimes end up at football games, the TV lounge, the soccer field or the hockey rink.
