Depending on how much time you want to put into it, you can applique the school letters for the center and surround it by easy blocks. I made this one from start to finish ( including quilting ) in less than 6 weeks. It was the very first time I tried applique ,too. It would have taken a lot less time had I not used the paper pieced stars.
