Costa Rica is a nice place to live, but being retired, you have to think about being able to handle the language and what to do about medical insurance. I learned Spanish many years ago, but until the end of this year, I haven't had to deal with medical insurance questions because I've been covered. Medicare doesn't cover a penny for international US citizens, even though we've paid and paid and paid, like everybody else.
