first off THANKS SO MUCH everyone for all the compliments. when i first made those neutral star blocks i hated them- thought they were the most boring looking blocks ever--then the crane came to be and the stars just made it what it is I think anyway...you have all been so wonderul.
now about that pattern...for the past year i have had a long (40") piece of freezer paper with my crane drawn on it with a sharpie...i think i started with something like a stork coloring book page and a picture in a magazine of a crane...and when i had what i thought was as right as i was going to get i drew it with a sharpie. then i lightly traced it onto back ground fabric with a pencil and began to (build) him. i am so happy all of you think he looks so realistic- i was really afraid that someone would say-that's not a sandhill crane-that's a blue heron...or something else.
i really am not sure how i could go about sharing my crane with you but i will ponder it...he has become a fixture in my sewing room-just hanging on the back of the closet door
