Sorry but what is batting tape? Not something I have seen for sale here in the UK but have several pieces of batting about 2 oe 3 foot wide and would like to use them.
I don't know either and I'm in Texas, USA. What I do with pieces of batting is lay them one on top of the other, use my rotary cutter to be sure I've got a good uniform edge and then zigzag them together. There is no evidence of the piecing after you get it quilted. What's more, it's kind of fun to do.

I've never done this for a big quilt, but wall hangings, purses, etc., haven't been any trouble. What's more, I know long armers who do this when they have an extra large quilt to do.
