Your string blocks are really lovely and I like the blue you used as a focal color. I do mine with telephone book pages and foundation cloth. I prefer the cloth foundation that stays in. Once you pull the paper off, everything is on the bias. I have also done strings on dryer sheets. These turn into a diamond pattern, or cut paper 6.5 x 9.5 inc.
