Back in the day, before totes were popular, I was known as the Bag Lady, because I made so many bags. I got heavy fabric close out, drapery, and upholstery, remnants to use. Some of the bags were softer, with muslin weight lining, some were heavy duty for the guys to throw tools into. I had big nylon bags perfect for the White Sales to carry 4 king size pillows in. Everyone in my department at Walter Reed had tote bags, and probably several other departments. It was a great source of pocket money for me. That was nearly 40 years ago. I haven't made any since then. I coach the kids, but for me - I don't even carry a purse, and retailers give away totes like they grow on trees.
