I also have this same set-up. Got mine for $1500.00 used. I also have a laser light that hooks to the back of the machine so that you can follow a pantograph on the top shelf. That is the only way I know how to quilt. And I do not have a stitch regulator. I agree with the statements about the throat space. If and when I can, I plan on purchasing a 13-15 inch machine at least. I doubt I will ever get good enough or interested enough to have a real "long-arm". But for the money I believe it is a good step up from a standard sewing machine.
