I just learned - back clamper vs side clamper:
refers to the location of screw and the orientation of attaching feet to the machine. This 66 is so old that the feet attach from the back, not side of the presser bar as later models do. That means replacements will be harder to find for ruffler, gatherer, etc. I do have attachments, so not a problem. But things like walking foot may not be available. I am not going to complain - I'm just excited to have this for piecing and general sewing.
Thanks for your kind comments - I never dreamed I'd really own a treadle, but have been hoping.
