My first quilt was 40+ years ago. My cousin was going to have a baby and I decided to make them a quilt. I sent the finished quilt to them--it was squares with sashing--pretty simple. A couple of years later she sent me all the squares and sashing all in pieces. I don't know what happened, maybe it just fell apart. She didn't send any explaination. I didn't make any more quilts for many years after that.

Oh my - that would have sent me into a frenzy. I read somehwere where a gal had sewn this huge quilt using the Nylon serger thread. When the top got ironed, all of the stitches melted and she had to start over.
My first one was a sampler and is still not finished as a quilt. My second one was in lavender, green, and white - a stylized crocus block for my brother's wedding. The same year (5 months later) my sister got married and she was a black and white girl. Made her a log cabin.
Boy did I struggle with those color choices.
