Had to laugh about the TV and getting it fixed....
A number of years ago the set we bought in the 70's went on the fritz and when the repair man opened up the back he stoped and just stared at it with a very confused look. When we asked if there was a major problem he said he wasn't sure, since he didn't recognize "those"....pointing to the "light bulb" looking part.........!

Not all the of componets had been converted to computer boards when that set was made and it was really much older than this repairman!
Things just aren't made with permanence in mind these days.
