Welcome from NW Wisconsin! On my 30 yr old White machine, I can only get a consistent 1/4 in. seam by using one particular foot and moving the needle to the righthand position. I feel like the feed dogs are fighting with me.
I've gotten my 1950 Singer fixed up and will see if I can do better on her.
But there is nothing wrong with making beautiful pillows! I love to make pillows as gifts.
