I saw a neat idea of a table in a magazine. Take two saw horses (they got theirs at IKEA) and glue felt on the top. Get an old door, hollow is fine and wrap it in felt. Then cover it with a fabric, like if you made curtains you might want to cover with same fabric, and then to make it smooth if desired, have a glass cut to cover the fabric and lay it on top. Also if pillow in chair cover it also. In the picture it looked great. Made my thoughts go ding-ding, - "sewing room!!!".
