They are called Presentation boards or you can ask for a Science Project Board most of the stores know what you are talking about if you ask for it.. they come in the foam and the coragated (Spelling) cardboard. They are pretty hardy and seems to me to be a good idea using Flannel as the cover it would be possible to be able to put enough blocks on one to see what your quilt would look like.
