Saw this quilt in MCCalls quilting mag, Feb 1, 2011, and knew I had to make it. My grand-nephew asked for a quilt made of red, blue, purple, green, yellow, black, brown and so on, several months ago. I rolled my eyes and reminded him that I am color challenged! Then I saw this quilt in the mag, and said "That's the one!"

It is titled "Architectural Gem", designed by Susan Guzman. It is made using batiks - which ordinarily I HATE, but since the pattern is kind of random and doesn't require any great skill with putting colors together, it's turned out to be fun.

In spite of it's name, I think of it as a modern stained glass, and love to look at it.

Hope my nephew likes it...but if he doesn't, it will have a happy home with me!
