I have another idea as well. After making the quilted top you could also make a clear plastic cover with elastic around the edge to cover the fabric. This would come in handy if the table sits outside. A little bit easier to simply wipe off the plastic. You could pop the plastic off quickly if you wanted for some occasions. You could also make different quilted tops as well. Oh, the possibilities keep popping in my mind.

The table came with "white linen" covered chair seats. My next project is to re-cover them with a print that does not show dirt and easy to wipe off.
