The actual quilting is what always stumps me. I look at all those beautiful quilts posted here and wonder how on earth they ever come up with such perfect designs. Could always fall back on meander for the hexes, but not the cubes.

Elaine that turned out beautiful! I actually learned to FMQ on my first OBW as I didn't know how else to quilt it!

Re the cubes, yes I always SITD to emphasise the 3D effect but I have also seen quilts where the FMQ just continues over them. The SITD IS a pain, especially hand sewing in all the ends, but I always do it because it really makes them pop. :-D
