I also did this for her this December for Christmas (I sewed nonstop in December considering I gave four quilts as gifts) I did the FMQ in the shape of a Rose I got the template from a fabric store and traced it on the fabric to give myself a guide. This took me so long to do. The first few were an hour per block I started to get better and got it down to 30 min. This was probably a little too ambitious for my third attempt at FMQ. But my mom loved it. I made it so it matched her favorite chair.
