Honestly, I can not comprehend how a paper napkin could work in any fashion for quilting. There would be nothing stable to use as a foundation. I envision the feed dogs shreading it to bits in the sewing process and leaving one nasty mess for you to clean up. Look at the problems that some have just joining two simple pieces of cotton without using a piece of scrap first. Imagine your needle not only eating your fabric, but now pounding in a layer of flimsy paper. Does it sound like I think this is a dumb idea? I hope so, because I believe it is.

Please post the article if you find it. Unless something has not been explained completely, IMHO, this would produce nothing but nightmares for you. :-)
