Thanks all for the responses. Pre current machine, I desperately wanted a machine like my mother's (made of metal). I was super excited when I received my current one. It is ridiculously heavy, and for most purposes permanently attached to its table, but I enjoy the sturdiness of the machine. I do get a little worried every now and then, should something break, and I am unable to find replacement parts, but it is humming for now.
