I am humbled by all your comments, and will try to answer your questions. The finished size is 108 x 108. The gray tones are not actually gray at all, but various patterns of white on blacks. I had much helping picking out the colors... My husband is an ink technician and mixes printing ink all day long, and my son is a body shop technician. Both of them help a lot with all my quilt color choices. The movement comes not only from the colors but the size of the blocks. They are more narrow on one side of the point than the other. Fons and Porter is the magazine the pattern came from. I tried to find it online but this is what I came up with
