I really enjoy making crazy quilts. The traditional ones with all the fancy fabrics, hand embroidery and pretty extras don't make the best quilts for babies but with cottons, decorative machine applique and a theme they make wonderful baby quilts. I often use three layers of flannel instead of batting so they are warm and comfy. You don't have to worry about how closely you quilt either. I love the freedom to create that is available with crazy quilting.
