I crochet like a whiz but struggle to knit, don't really like it since it takes s-o-o-o long to finish. I have been able to crochet a baby afghan, start to finish, in three days. That's not crocheting every waking moment, but it was working with a vengence. I learned when I was 10, did some when I was in my teens, but turned to it for comfort after my mom died nearly 20 years ago. It has been a saving grace for me and a true therapeutic endeavor. As long as my hands are able, I'll be crocheting. It's so portable & I also can crochet by feel when I am doing a pattern that is an old standby. :-)
