You want a fabric with multiple contrasts - in colors, values, and shapes.

It really doesn't matter what's on the pattern in terms of florals, or houses, or fish because those will disappear when you start cutting.

And a great fabric for this technique might not be your first choice, but you have to look at the elements. Again, color, value, shapes.

It's always about the contrasts. ;-)
