I received a free pattern in the mail with an offer to buy some quilting magazines. Didn't take them up on the offer but did try out the free pattern. It was called 'The Modern Baby' by McCalls Quick Quilts. I didn't like the name and I had some fabrics that weren't my favorites so decided to give it a whirl as I wanted something to practice my FMQ on before I tackled it on a bigger quilt. So here is a picture. I am still putting on the binding, which by the way, I love using those metal hair clips for. Also will show you some closeups of my FMQ. I still need practice but I am gaining skills. Just have a plain machine and no stitch regulator. Just put on the darning foot, feed dogs up and go to it. I named my quilt Hippie Days because of the motif I happened to dream up for the center squares plus the wild colors. I learned that I really like to do leaves so had fun doing them, too on the strips around the centers.
