This is the Bernina 830 Record classic machine sold in the 1970's. At that time it was the top of the line machine and was all metal gears and not computerized. I bought mine in 1976 causing my brand new husband to throw a huge fit because he thought all that money ($1000) should have been used on mortgage payments. The pictured machine shows it in the more expensive elevator desk and it appears to be in really good shape (mine has some pin scratches and a little paint wearing off on the bed of the machine). This is a great machine and I only bought a new Janome 6500 because I wanted a larger harp. These machines really hold their value and often are sold in the $500 to $700 range. My local dealer offered me $450 for mine sight unseen as he has a waiting list (Mennonites) for this model. I'd grab it if I were you!
