You and a few others may be in the minority because most of us enjoy the binding because it is the finale to finishing the quilt. You can buy the pre-packaged binding, you are limited to the colors but it is already made for you. Maybe you can find a find and exchange a task for a task (something you may enjoy doing for her in exchange for that person finishing the binding). You can also leave extras fabric on the back and fold it (a certain way) to the front for a neat finish for a binding. There are a few techniques that you can use in order to speed up of take short cuts to finishing your product. If you have a quilter, they will do it also. Just a few ideas to help. If you were close by, I would trade the binding for the cutting.
