I love the old patterns too.Here in the U.K it is almost impossible to find really small, pretty prints,or feedsack patterns.Everything seems bold and bright.It's not just me that has this prblem,I belong to a group who find the same.As to the increase in cotton prices,well I started out using 'found fabric' and taught my first class techniques derived from the past.Perhaps we should go back to that idea.
