if i were you i would get on medicare a and b if u are 65 yrs old. your husbands insurance will be primary and medicare will be secondary and it will cover what medicare allows-- it wont hurt to have it and you will avoid problems in the future trying to get on it. just remember you must let your primary insurance and medicare know that you have other insurance. i work in a doctors office doing the billing and sometimes medicare picks up what the primary allows as the patients responsability if its a covered expense from medicare.
