i made one for a friend's baby. it was warm, flannel, and it turned out to be the little one's favorite. six years later, friend approached me to see if it could be repaired--daughter had loved it to death. the cotton flannel was getting thin, and there was batting showing through in some spots. i said i could try, and laid in some flannel--but a few days later, she said that her daughter was finally not crying herself to sleep at night, and this was a good thing. they'd finally broken the blankie habit! so, it was washed one last time, folded, and put away for posterity--to be incorporated into "something old", when she gets married later. pretty ratty garter, in my book! it did my heart good to see it loved to death, though.
