You have to sneak up on it with a blanket to throw over the cage so you don't get hit with spray. The idea is that the skunk doesn't get alarmed enough to even spray. Then you move the cage to where you will release it and open it up - from behind. Problem is, last time it freaked when it saw dh coming with the blanket and when ballistic with skunk-scent. Then poor dh struggled for I don't remember how long, trying to open the door with a pole.... they don't make those things easy.
For some reason no one seems to get sprayed when the videos are on youtube..... maybe I should take a video so people can see what REALLY happens! lol! Dh is avoiding it... we have a friend that works for the forest-service and we'll be seeing him tonight. I think dh is going to ask him what he suggests. Actually I'm afraid they'll just say to kill him - I've heard that if you call pest control or animal control, they are required to do away with skunks since so many have rabies (not all do however), so they take the trap and drop it in a bucket of water. I just can't handle that.
