Yes, my niece still has her baby quilt I made her and her baby girl claimed it as her own when she was born.
I went to my daughters home once and saw an 8 point star quilt in red/white/and navy blue with pillow shams to match. I declared how much I liked it and she said "You should Mom, you made it for me" She also still has the quilt I made for her when she was about 5.
