And how was your tension, how did it turn out? Free motion quilting usually turns out best when you only use the straight stitch. We have had numerous customers in with complaints about trying to do the satin stitch, and blanket stitch free motion quilting. And most had thrown their timing out on their machines, which means a $75 trip to the repair shop. The new Pfaff 4.0 has a lovely feature, (not for free motion) but for regular staint stitch or button hole stitch, where the needle stays down, but the pressure foot lifts just enough that you can pivot the fabric and change direction just a little, and you tap the foot pedal, and the foot goes down again, so with every tap on the foot pedal, you can lift the foot, pivot, and put foot up or down and turn you fabric.
