I went to a favorite quilt shop today with a friend to help her choose fabrics for a quilt she is starting. I have not been shopping or buying fabric for myself lately because my husband lost his job in January.

Anyway, I needed four yards of a particular fabric to finish a WIP and I decided to bite the bullet and buy it. On the way there I commented how it was too bad I was so sick during March (had pneumonia) because I didn't make it to the shop then, during my birthday month. They give 25% off on one shopping trip during your birthday month. The shop is about sixty miles away, so it isn't a quick or cheap trip with gas prices so high.

I found my fabric and took it to the cutting table, afraid there might not be enough because the bolt was very thin. Guess how much was on the bolt? Four yards, plus one inch! Guess what the store policy is if you polish off the bolt? 20% off!

I was just so tickled. I don't think it was an accident that I showed up there today! A day earlier, and there might have been too much on the bolt for me to finish it off. A day later, and there might not have been enough fabric for me to finish my quilt. It was such a small thing, but sometimes it is the small things that restore our faith...
