There was a whole post about cutting mats a while ago and there was some great information.
One was to soak your mat in water until the water is completely absorbed. Lay flat and let it dry. (It will be good as new!) Haven't done this but wow if it works. They are way too expensive. Do a search and you may find more hints. This one just blew me away.
I will share this, I had a mat that I loved (the way it was marked on the edges) but I had to replace my blades ALL THE TIME. I went to Joanne's and bought the green one (large) and what a difference. Haven't had to change a blade in a few weeks of use. JMT. Good luck.
