I am interested in this question also...I am helping my niecd make a quilt out of upholstery swatches. Some are quite heavy and some ravel. I do not think it can go on a quilting machine. I have tied quilts before. I use emdroidery floss and had good luck. I like the ribbon idea.
I would also like to know how to do a surgeon's know.
