On January 13th of this year my aunt received the most devestating call she will ever receive in her life. Sadly my 30 year old cousin Sarah died of complications from the flu. At the time she was a Prof at Texas Tech living away fron her family.
Luckily we got to spend time with her at Christmas and say goodbye, little did we know that would be the last.
Still several months later it is so unbelievable that she is gone.
I wanted to give some sort of comfort to my aunt and uncle for this loss. Making this quilt also helped me to deal with her death in my own way. I did not do alot of quilting on this (sitd)
I wanted to show more pictures throught her life with her siblings and family. I also included phrases about being a daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt and devoted friend. In the middle of the quilt is a poem that Sarah wrote about life and the future. She read it when she gave the valedictorian speech at her high school graduation.
She will be sadly missed.
